More women saving adequately for retirement

The proportion of women saving enough for retirement has increased to 50% according to the Scottish Widows Women in Pensions Report. This is a rise from the 2010 figure of 43%.

The report showed 53% of men are saving an adequate amount for retirement, and that their average contributions are higher than those of women, due to higher average earnings. Women over 50 were also found to be contributing twice as much as younger women, highlighting the need for women to begin saving earlier.
