Later auto-enrolment dates for some small firms

The Department for Work and Pensions consultation Workplace pension reform: Consultation on draft regulations and guidance has revised the auto-enrolment staging dates for some small firms.

The Pensions Regulator has issued guidance to employers suggesting that firms with less than ten members of staff that share Pay As You Earn schemes with other businesses will be affected. Such firms will be given more time to prepare for auto-enrolment as their staging dates could be delayed by up to 23 months.

Legislation changes are likely to take place before the Pensions Bill becomes law.
