IFP hopes to grow influence after AIFA's expansion

The Institute of Financial Planning (IFP) plans to grow its influence on the FSA and focus on representing financial planners following the announcement that AIFA is to accept restricted advisers as members.

IFP states that it does not intend to replace AIFA and that its core role remains to be a professional body that serves advisers. However as part of this role it wants to understand the interests of IFAs and to use its accredited status to promote these interests with the FSA. IFP Chief Executive Nick Cann suggested that AIFA will struggle to represent both sectors of IFAs.
