Geoffrey Pointon

Chairman

Geoffrey co-founded Pointon York in 1971, and remains Chairman of the company to this day. An important industry figure with 50 years experience, Geoffrey has a reputation for consistently pushing the boundaries and innovating successful financial products.

He has promoted higher standards throughout the Financial Services industry since the 1970s, helping to form the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA) and holding Chair positions for ALDS, NASDIM, FIMBRA, APT and SAS.

Geoffrey practices Pilates and exercises regularly. He always has a good story to tell and enjoys good cooking preferably with a glass of fine wine.

Jo French

Managing Director

Jo joined Pointon York in 2008 as Managing Director. Our candid Kiwi brings a wealth of experience in Service and Programme Management from an international career that has comprised work for Kelloggs (Aust) Ltd on their Year 2000 IT Project and NSW Fire Brigades on their Business Continuity Program preparations for the Sydney Olympics.

Enterprising and ambitious, Jo has directed the transformation of our distribution strategy. She has a passion for ensuring things run smoothly and runs a tight ship at Pointon York.

Family is everything to Jo and she enjoys playing ‘Princesses’ with her girls at the weekend.

Steven Clews

Finance & Compliance Director

Steven has been Finance & Compliance Director at Pointon York since 2003. His sharp eye and acumen ensures our compliance with regulatory standards. The busiest man at Pointon York, Steven packs more into a day than Margaret Thatcher did as Prime Minister.

Before joining Pointon York, Steven was Finance and Compliance director at a corporate finance boutique. He began his career with 10 years at Deloitte Haskins & Sells and Coopers & Lybrand, qualifying as Chartered Accountant in 1987, and completed an Executive MBA at London Business School in 2000.

When he’s not crunching numbers or analysing compliance updates, Steven can be found coaching his son’s mini-soccer team and acting as his family’s taxi driver.

Melanie Beaver

Business Development Director

Melanie is our bubbly Charter Client Director, who has become part of the furniture at Pointon York since joining in 1999 from AXA Sun Life. Starting life with the company as an administrator, Melanie brings a breadth of experience to the Board from working in departments across the business from Operations to Customer Service.

Melanie knows Pointon York and its clientele inside out. She always has the customer at heart and works closely with our key clients to build strong relationships and find solutions for their needs.
